The biggest winter fashion confession I have to make is that at the first sensation of chill (or in the case of Bombay’s weather, pleasantness) I leave behind all my short dresses. My knits, jackets, throws, ankle length boots and everything else that covers me with a little extra something comes out at the first sign of weather that drops below 30 degrees. While I have dressy days or events and parties to attend, I keep three simple things in mind: (A) pay attention to the details: throw in prints, embroideries, heels and great fits (B) leave behind the big totes; carry clutches that are convenient and fit just enough for the party look (C) Cover them legs! The last thing I want this winter is to start getting chilly inside a place that’s going to have their air conditioner on blast. I like to stay comfortable, it’s my primary mantra with any and every occasion.
Through this easy to wear, dual tone look, I’ve put together a print on print look. With the back-blue-white play, I added a little more prints’ clash with the magazine print clutch and throw on a pair of basic must have heels.
If you’re headed for a family outing and prefer to avoid the short numbers, like me, then a free flowing shirt-top, and a well fitted pair of bottoms should be your go-to combination. I’ve been crushing on neutral lip colours this season, so I’ve mixed Vaseline’s lip balm with Lakme’s Bella Rosa and VOV’s Tan Affair lip pencil. Don’t forget to do a little something with your hair, here I’ve done some easy tonged curls and opened them up about ten minutes after setting them in.
