The thing with birthdays and I is that they never fail to excite me! I get excited for anyone’s birthday, so you can only imagine what it did to me for my own! (I turned 21 some days ago, for those of you who don’t know) Inspite the countdown and excitement I had playing through my mind, I decided this birthday would be simple, and would be spent with close friends; but the arrangements of even that drove me crazy!
So, after the sun went down on 17th June, 2012 I decided to do a post on girls and their birthdays. The things you should do and the stuff you need to prepare for in advance. My list begins right here:
– Scale and what?
How big or small do you want your celebration to be? Whether it’s a small lunch/dinner or an extravagant party, there will be a list anyway. But deciding your overall idea will help you start at the right point!
Decide on a place that not just fits your budget, but also suits you taste. Go for a balance between food, budget and how the place looks – any imbalance in these three factors, and you could find yourself on the verge of social suicide!
The look of a dress, pants, denims or going all formal – pick your avatar on the basis of the plan. You can’t be stepping into a restaurant in a fully-blown formal gown, neither can you walk into your grand party in denims, so make sure you have the right match going for the scale of the occasion.
– Make up and nails
It’s a done thing that you give attention to the nails and make-up in your overall look, but don’t forget to pay that dash of extra attention since you’re the birthday girl. Plan out your salon appointment in advance so you don’t find yourself rushing on D-day, and don’t miss out on having it properly styled before hand too!
Last but not the least for sure, the way you finish is always remembered. Spick and span from top to “bottom”; now you know why they say that, don’t you?
– Cake & food
In the process of getting yourself ready, don’t forget to prepare the main ingredients for a great celebration – the food and cake! They really are the heart of the party – have them ordered and set in advance.
So I went by these rules for myself, and had an amazing 21st birthday. A low-key lunch with close friends, a pretty white laced top simplified with denims and flat pumps; I chose to leave my hair slightly scrunched and went for the natural make-up look played up by bold red lips. Skipping the earrings suited me considering the closed neck and short neckpiece, and I added just the one Peace ring for the accessories on the look. As for my cake and food, it was generously looked into by my close ones; while two of my best friends kept the cake under wraps (literally) right till the time I had to cut it, the food was taken care of by my older brother – #sortedmuch!
So I hope you took these pointers down, and that you use them for your own birthday when it’s close. Don’t forget to tell me what you did for your birthday, or if you have any add-ons I could use next time too!
