With the award season in full swing, it’s pretty much been a hectic month on the sartorial scene. Nevertheless, bringing the best of fashion and the newest trends is never a compromise, everything else can conveniently take the backseat for now. The Golden Globes red carpet boasted of some of the most grand gowns we’ve spotted in a long while, some filled with about a dozen layers to add volume while others streamlined to show off those perfectly toned figures. From primary colours and marsala to shimmer and sequins, here are the top five trends we spotted on the stars at the Globes, that you can easily incorporate into your wardrobe in different pieces:
1. The Return Of The V-Neck
If you thought this classic cut had somehow been lost in between an abundance cut-outs and off-shoulders, well, we guess you were wrong. This red carpet staple made quite a return at the red carpet with celebs like (L to R) Katy Perry, Jaimie Alexandar, Kristen Dunst and Heidi Klum sporting it in versatile gowns.
2. All That Glitters Is Gold
There’s colourful shimmer on one side, and then there’s gold. There’s nothing more classy on a red carpet than a gown that reflects light in this royal shade, and we think (L to R) Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Kate Hudson and Brie Larson were relying just on that. That, and those oh-so-sexy cut-outs of course!
3. Them Cape Sleeves
You know it’s a thing when on one hand Jennifer Lopez channels this style into a bright mustard gown, and on the other hand, Emilia Clarke, being one of television’s most fashionable stars, does the same in an all-black version. We can’t decide which one we love better!
4. It’s All A ‘Sequins’
You might associate the sequin with a little retro disco vibe, but after watching (L to R) Olivia Wilde, Jane Vu, Julianne Moore and Kate Bosworth’s gowns, we think they’re pretty much evolving into a red carpet staple.
5. Drop That Shoulder
If you follow celebs across social media or even the tabloids, you’re definitely in the know about how on-trend the off-shoulder is right now. Amy Schumer, Natalie Dormer, Gina Rodriguez and Lady Gaga channeled this trend into their gowns and looked every bit sexy and they looked classy.
